Here are some frequently asked questions. If you have a question that is not answered here then please call or email us.
Do you charge access fees?
Access during our reception opening hours is free of charge. You can come and go as often as you need with no additional cost.
Can I use electric appliances in my room?
Use of electric appliances is not permitted without the consent of the Store Manager, our units do not have electric sockets fitted.
Can I reserve a unit?
Yes you can. This can be done by either booking online, calling our office or popping in and speak to one of our team.
To make a confirmed reservation a payment of £10 will be taken per unit. This is fully refundable. This payment will then be added to your account and deducted from the money owed from your 1st invoice. Reservations are only valid for 4 weeks.
Do I have to pay a security deposit?
No we do not require a security deposit!
Is it possible to view the storage rooms before I rent?
Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00
Saturday – 10:00 – 16:00
Do you have trolleys I can use?
Yes we have trolleys that are free for you to use.
When can I access my storage unit?
Standard access hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday – Friday and 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. If you need to access your unit out of standard hours then just ask and if we can accommodate you then we will.
Do I need to give you notice when I want to move out?
Yes. We require 7 days written notice when you wish to vacate. Upon vacation we will refund any remaining days. Note this excludes vacates during any special offer period.
Do I need insurance?
All items must be insured whilst stored with us. We can provide insurance to all our customers for just £0.69 per week per £1,000 of cover. Alternatively you can provide your own insurance. Proof of insurance must be provided to Ashfield Self Storage within 14 days.
What size units do you have?
Our units range from 40sq ft up to 150 sq ft
What documents do I need to rent a unit?
When renting a unit from Ashfield Self Storage you will be required to provide proof of identity and a proof of address.
Accepted forms of ID – Passport, Photo Card Driving Licence
Accepted proof of address – Utility bill, Bank Statement, Tenancy document all less than 3 months old
Does Ashfield Self Storage provide locks? Do you keep a key to my storage unit?
For your security you provide your own padlock for your unit. We do not hold a key so only you will have access to your unit. For your convenience we sell a range of padlocks
What security do you have?

24 hour Digital CCTV located both inside and outside the main building, monitoring all entrances and exits

Can I store anything?
You can store most things at Ashfield Storage with the exception of:

Living items, such as animals and plants

Hazardous materials, such as flammable liquids and explosives

Items that could decompose, such as exposed foodstuffs

Unauthorised or illegal goods, such as drugs or firearms

What is the minimum time I can stay?
Our minimum billing period is 1 month.
Can I change the size of my unit?
Yes, you can change the size of your unit depending on your changing requirements and availability.
How long can I stay?
You can stay for as long as you need to.
Can I move in today?
You can move in at any time when our office is open (Opening Times). You will need to bring with you a suitable proof of identity (a passport); proof of address (a utility bill); and a credit or debit card for payment.
Do I have to book?
We advise that you book to ensure that you get the unit size you need but as long as you bring the required documents you can move in without booking. Moving in must take place during our office opening hours.

How do I pay?
Initial payment will be taken via credit or debit card. For future payments standing order is the easiest way to pay. Other options are by debit card over the phone, BACs payments, cheque or cash
